Sqope Breakfast Series: Staying on the Right Side of Enforcement

Sqope Intelligence hosted two breakfast panels in March 2026 in Jersey and Guernsey, bringing together industry experts to discuss “Staying on the Right Side of Enforcement”.

With regulatory scrutiny increasing, the key message was clear: firms must take a proactive approach to governance, risk, and compliance to remain resilient.

Moderated by Nadia A. Ziani, Director for the UK & Channel Islands, the sessions explored practical ways organizations can strengthen governance frameworks, stay ahead of enforcement trends, and embed a culture of accountability. The discussions highlighted the importance of strong oversight and clear internal processes. Indeed, firms that act early are better positioned to manage risk and meet regulatory expectations.

Sqope Intelligence was joined by Charisma Lyall (ConsultGC Ltd.), Alex Whitby (PwC Channel Islands), Craig Gauvain (ZEDRA Group), Sachin Sahani (JTC Group), Tony Shiplee (Mourant Consulting), and Barry Faudemer (Baker Regulatory Services Limited) to provide clear insight and actionable suggestions.

Sqope Intelligence participates in Transparency International’s Business Integrity Forum

On 2 October 2025, UK Director Nadia A. Ziani was joined in London by Team Lead and Senior Intelligence Manager Emily Gorman in order to participate in the Business Integrity Forum hosted by Transparency International.

With the event focusing on Compliance Convergence: Where Fraud, ESG and Corruption Intersect, Emily participated in the panel to explore how compliance professionals can navigate the evolving regulatory landscape. Among others, the discussions highlighted the growing importance of supply chain due diligence and the need for a dynamic approach to managing emerging AML and ESG-related reputational risks.

Along with her expertise, Emily shared insights and use cases from Sqope Intelligence’s experience to highlight the importance of supply change due diligence.

Under the theme “The New Era of Compliance”, the event focused on the evolving landscape—covering topics such as geopolitical risks, ESG, human rights, data protection, and AI.

Our Managing Director for Europe, Roi Lavi, and COO, Miriam Goldman, shared insights on the use of AI in the due diligence space, with Roi participating in a panel addressing the same. Both focused on where the technology adds value and when human expertise remains irreplaceable.

Sqope Intelligence hosts three events in three countries from May 21-22

Our team had a busy week connecting with industry leaders across three countries. We hosted three events over two days in Switzerland, Liechtenstein, and Guernsey from May 21-22.

On May 21 in Baar, Switzerland, Roi Lavi and Lev Yuriditsky participated in a panel discussion hosted by the Commodity Trading Club and WISTA Switzerland. They explored how global shifts are transforming commodity trading and trade finance and concluded the evening with a networking event, where lively conversations continued among industry peers.

We extend our sincere thanks to Sqope board member and ESG Advisor Roger H. Hartmann, and to Murat Seitnepesov of the Greater Caspian Association, whose support helped make the event a success.

The following day, May 22, brought Roi and Lev to Vaduz, Liechtenstein, where they were invited by the Liechtenstein Bankers Association to speak about 2024’s “super election year” and its impact on European financial regulation—an increasingly relevant topic in today’s shifting political climate.

Meanwhile, also on May 22, Nadia A. Ziani led our first Sqope breakfast panel in Guernsey, focusing on proliferation financing risk. She was joined by Tony Shiplee, Craig Gauvain, and Stephen Cummins for an in-depth discussion covering legal frameworks, reputational risks, and practical next steps for financial institutions.

For the fourth consecutive year in a row, Sqope Intelligence was one of the sponsors of the Economic Crime Prevention (ECP) DACH conference in Zurich on 17-19 March 2025.

Represented by Roi Lavi, Managing Director for Europe, and Miriam Goldman, group COO, the two had an insightful three days with peers from various industries. In addition to Roi taking the stage for an interesting panel discussion on ESG compliance in the life sciences, they learned about some of the ongoing and new challenges facing those in the compliance space, from the FCPA pause to enforcement of export controls.

Sqope Intelligence & Baker Regulatory Services host breakfast briefing on terror financing

Led by CIO Lev Yuriditsky and Baker Regulatory Services’ CEO Barry Faudemer, the event, which took place on October 3 at The Royal Yacht in Jersey, focused on terror financing, including the preferred methods used by such groups in the UK/Europe, Middle East, and Africa.

Our main takeaways include:

Different terror groups and types embrace varying modus operandi when raising funds across the Middle East and Africa. Institutionalized groups are challenging to detect and use financial institutions to channel funds internationally.
Far-right extremism in the UK and Europe is on the rise. Such extremists, for example, utilize social media to circulate information to UK rioters with the aim of promoting violent disorder.
Financial institutions need to closely monitor client onboarding and transactions for terror financing red flags. Stringent, systematic, and enhanced due diligence is essential to mitigate this risk.
Companies need comprehensive training to identify the warning signs from those funding terror groups and acts, an appreciation of how such groups are spending their money on, and knowledge of how to spot it.

Ilana Krancenblum wins CEO of the Year award at Women in GRC

Director for the UK & Channel Islands Nadia A. Ziani attended the Women in Governance, Risk, and Compliance (GRC) Awards in London and accepted the award of CEO of the Year on behalf of Sqope Intelligence CEO Ilana Krancenblum.

Sqope Intelligence was well represented ahead of and at the award ceremony, which was held on July 11 in London. With COO Miriam Goldman one of the judges, Nadia A. Ziani shortlisted for GRC Role Model of the Year award, and Ilana Krancenblum the winner of CEO of the Year, it was an exciting event all around.

We would like to congratulate all the nominees and winners and offer a heartfelt thank you to the organizers, who put together a successful and important event that promotes strong women in the fields of governance, risk, and compliance. We look forward to next year!

Sqope Intelligence & De Gaulle Fleurance host sanctions events in Geneva, Monaco

Sqope Intelligence partnered with law firm De Gaulle Fleurence to host two events in Geneva, Switzerland and Monte Carlo, Monaco that discussed sanctions risk.

The first event was held on May 29 in Geneva with Managing Director of Europe Roi Lavi and Intelligence Manager Matthew Walker and the second occurred on July 2 in Monaco where CEO Ilana Krancenblum joined Roi and Matthew.

With Sqope Intelligence discussing KYC tools to identify exposure, including case studies and direct solutions for regulated professionals, our partners from De Gaulle Fleurance covered the legal aspects and impact for the Monegasque sector.
